Norman Wilkinson (1878-1971) was a famous maritime painter and his art developed through his maritime career.  During World War 1 he was the developer of Dazzle Painting, a form of ship camouflage.  In this railway poster the River Tay is a rich purple with black shadow like fingers extending out from the town.  The lavender of the sky gives the feeling of one of those summer days with the palest of blue skies.    A lovely day.
